P0123 limp mode

Just purchased a 2002 CLK 430 convertible. Runs fine until I floor it(WOT). Scan tool indicates code P0123. I preform the reset procedure for the accelerator pedal sensor, or the TPS as some call it, and it runs fine again until I go pedal to the medal. It appears I have the Hall effect sensor. Is there another sensor on the gas pedal itself I should be looking at? I am planning to test the TPS by back probing the connector for voltage. I think there is a 5V reference voltage and a not...
