Are the Cup Holders really bad?

I'm strongly considering a R230 but, as insane as it may sound, I'm rather concerned that the cup holders are just not that useable at all. My wife and I generally always travel with a Tervis or water bottle and are really curious about how the cup holders, and everything else around them, function with two bottles or cups in place .
