Transmission swap -- 722.608 (from 99E300 2wd into 99E320 4matic (722.664)?

Transmission (722.664) on 99E320 4matic is dead, needs a new one. I have a smashed 99E300 with a good transmission (722.608). The 608 diesel trans is good for 330nm, the 664 gasser 300nm, so that part would be fine. I have a question as to whether this would be a direct swap, or would there be differences in the cases that I would need to deal with, or that might not allow it if the cases are different.
