Humble greetings 1993 400SEL no dash lights no crank

Hi everyone its my first Merc. and I have bought the car not running. Its got a clean Carfax/Autocheck @230K miles. The key was pretty well stuck in the ignition but I did get it out with the usual coaxing. In position one, the SRS idiot light is THE ONLY LIGHT ON THE DASH. In position two, same. It does not feel as if the key is hitting a spring at all. No crank. No gauges wiggle. All other systems on board seem to work. I did try to get the lock cylinder out without success. The key...
