Advice on purchase 1998 C-280

I have not signed onto this forum since 2009 when I sold my 1983 380SL (that vehicle in question ended up being a disaster compared to by 1982 300D). Hopefully this is the correct spot in the forum to ask this question (the site has obviously changed quite a bit since I was an active member).
