I recently bought this car and while driving it, I started to get messages saying 4x4 abs and active steering out, car shuts off stuck in park. needed to jump it. Took it to my mechanic and he changed the alternator. Said there was a oil leak that ruined it.
Car runs fine for about 3 days then boom, same problem, all the lights, car shuts off stuck. Jump it again this time I see that there is a coolant leak. take it to mechanic.. after pressure test, the coolant reservoir is cracked and when pressurized it sprays out, and the alternator is right there getting soaked. So he changes the tank. car runs fine for a week.
2 days ago I notice When I got in the car it tells me to Set date and time because the battery was disconnected, weird. drove car everything was fine. next day when I parked up and shut engine off, everything shut off abruptly. (meaning radio lights) so I restart the car and check the voltage, it was running at 10-11 max. Drive to mechanic when I get there it is perfectly fine, 13-14v.
mechanic wasn't there because of the shutdown. so I didn't get it checked.
this morning the car did it again. but this time completely shut off and wont start. battery voltage was at 9v.
It seems like the Alternator. That would be my bet. because of being wet by the coolant.
Previous owner changed the battery maybe a year ago. so I don't think its the battery.
In the search im seeing that it could be a ecu issue. what's your thoughts?
