Starter circuit questions

Hey all. Finally starting to work on my field found 84 380SL again. I'm faced with two problems before I attempt to start the car again. I've replaced the starter with a Bosch reman unit and since I did that, the starter motor does not release when you let go of the key. It just keeps turning. Would I be correct in assuming I connected the exciter wire to the wrong lug on the solenoid and it's pulling the plunger the wrong direction? Or is another fault likely here? Missing Chrome Cap On Rear Trunk Lock

I am missing the chrome cap with the key slot on top my 560sl trunk lock (see photo)... The lock and pushbutton turn, but this does not look good, and I also fear it might invite somebody with a screw driver or other means to make an attempt to force the lock open . I am hoping that there is a solution other than complete replacement of the unit.. Has anybody else had a similar issue and replaced the chrome cap on the lock button?

The anti-theft function has been activated.
